The first Leonardo Automation Club Symposium was held on September 21 – 23.
The initial setting was the spectacular Leonardo da Vinci section of the National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.
The speakers, well coordinated by the two chairmen, led attendees on an exploration of the world of automation, covering several aspects of the evolution of robotics and its applications, above all in the field of laboratory animal science.
The importance of automation in the context of operator health and safety and general wellbeing in order to minimize illness and injuries and create a better work environment was covered thoroughly and captured the attention of all participants. There were also several opportunities for discussion and the exchange of opinions and experience.
The last day was dedicated to two visits to outside venues, one a state-of-the-art animal facility in Milan and the other a highly automated mineral water bottling plant featuring the extensive use of A.G.V.s (automatic guided vehicles) which had also been the subject of two of the presentations the previous day.
